Carved Hairsticks was not born out of need or creativity. In fact, the business idea was created out of one of my outdoor adventures. As a young girl, I took pleasure in all things of nature and enjoyed playing with the things of earth. So fiddling around one day, I happened upon some thin sticks and desired to sharpen the ends and stick them in my hair like a “hair stick” thus, the very beginning of Carved Hairsticks. The rest is history. I soon learned that I could hand carve hair sticks out of wood, sand them until they were perfectly smooth, stain them, and finish them with oils. It was soon after that when I started making them as a hobby because I enjoyed working with my hands and creating unique things. But this simple hobby ran out of my parent’s garage where I started making hair sticks for friends and family, has progressed into a full-time business.
